Olmos There: Gellar and Dexter face-off begins

Posted by: Dawn    Tags:  Colin Hanks, Dexter, Edward James Olmos, Michael C. Hall, Showtime    Posted date:  November 26, 2011  |  3 Comments

Originally published at OlmosPerfect.com Things are heating up on DEXTER as Michael C. Hall's Dexter Morgan prepares to finally engage Edward James Olmos' Professor Gellar. So far, most of the action has been of the detecting variety with some interaction between Gellar's malleable protege Travis (Colin Hanks) and Dexter. But things began changing with last week's episode, when Dexter tried to beard the lion in his den and failed. Dexter has faced off with a number of worthy adversaries over the first five seasons -- most notably last season's Trinity Killer as played by John Lithgow -- but Gellar...

The Battlestar SitRep is a summary of the various articles that have been published in the last few weeks regarding Battlestar Galactica, its cast and crew, and whatever else is floating out there amongst the heavens.  Firstly, we'd like to apologize for the hiatus for the past few weeks, but my real life and work have simply hindered my ability to really work on Galactica Geek as I had intended. Have no fear though, things are getting back into order (as much as these things can be, anyway) and so you'll be seeing a slew of articles next week that we've been holding back. Thank you for your...

Apologies for missing a column last week, but to make up for it, here's a roundup of the Old Man's happenings over the last few weeks: PADRES Parents Against Cancer On the 15th of this month, Mr. Olmos attended the PADRES Parents Against Cancer fund-raiser in Vegas. The benefit was to raise funds to help Latino children with cancer and their families. During the event, Mr. Olmos found himself as part of an auction and will be back in Vegas this weekend to be a waiter, along with George Lopez, for the auction winner, Giselle Fernandez. According to a report in the Las Vegas Sun, there was a bit of a bidding...

Olmos There: EJO is not just an actor

Posted by: Dawn    Tags:  acting, activism, Dexter, Edward James Olmos, Showtime    Posted date:  November 6, 2011  |  No comment

It’s great to have Edward James Olmos once again on TV on a weekly basis, with his role on Showtime’s DEXTER. But as wonderful as that is, it’s even more wonderful to see what he does when he’s off the screen. In addition to being an Oscar- and Tony-nominated, Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning actor, Mr. Olmos is also a tireless activist. He often lends his face, presence, and voice to causes that move him to action and touch his heart. As the webmaster of OlmosPerfect.com, a fansite dedicated to his life and career, I am often reminded of how much time and energy he expends in service...

Olmos There: EJO’s unique talents bring DEXTER’s Professor Gellar to scary life

Posted by: Dawn    Tags:  Battlestar Galactica, Blade Runner, Dexter, Edward James Olmos, Miami Vice, Zoot Suit    Posted date:  October 17, 2011  |  One Comment

Originally published at OlmosPerfect.com A couple things come to mind when watching Edward James Olmos in DEXTER. First, and this should not come as a surprise, is that Mr. Olmos is an actor with special talents. I've seen only one other performer (Sir Anthony Hopkins) with the same uncanny ability to be so preternaturally still and very few capable of convincingly oozing such an intense possibility/promise of sudden violence despite an outer appearance of disconnect, calm, and even nurturing (twisted though it may be in the case of Gellar). Mr. Olmos has brought these particular abilities...

Olmos There: The Old Man makes chilling DEXTER debut

Posted by: Dawn    Tags:  Battlestar Galactica, Dexter, Edward James Olmos, Showtime    Posted date:  October 9, 2011  |  No comment

Originally published at OlmosPerfect.com **** Spoiler Warning **** Wow. Yeah, that's the word for Edward James Olmos' debut on Showtime's DEXTER. Talk about freaky-awesome scary. His introduction as a brilliant and charismatic professor of religious studies was both exhilarating and unnerving. After five years of William Adama, a man whose heart was as big as his will was strong, it's jarring to see our Old Man apparently masterminding murders with undisguised religious overtones. Mr. Olmos plays his part brilliantly, revealing just enough to entice you to want to know more -- even...

eBay DRADIS: Tricia Helfer and Tahmoh Penikett Signed Bears Available for Charity Auction

Posted by: Joe Beaudoin Jr.    Tags:      Posted date:  October 4, 2011  |  No comment

Lisa Spodak, a Battlestar Galactica fan who has participated in 20 (yes, twenty) Avon Walks for Breast Cancer, is offering up signed teddy bears on eBay. As some BSG fans already know, Lisa has done this in the past, and last year she netted over $150,000 for last years Avon Walk. (Yes, that's more than I'll personally ever make in a year — but it's all going to a good cause, so who am I to complain?) Presently available until the end of today are signed breast cancer awareness bears and photographs (themselves unsigned, but featuring a breast cancer awareness bear) from Tahmoh Penikett...
