One of the sites that inspired us to launch Galactica Geek — a site known as Galactica SitRep — posted a quick blog post with a few well-made trailers for Battlestar Galactica. Personally, I found them to be very well done and, with a few minor tweaks, they should have easily been promos for Battlestar Galactica when it was on the air. Today marks the 33rd anniversary of the original Battlestar Galactica pilot airing on ABC. Given that this is when the series was formally given life (outside of the fact that the pilot aired theatrically in Canada before it premiered in America), it comes as no surprise then that we would choose this day to formally launch Galactica Geek. On Wednesday, September 14th, Bear McCreary announced via his blog that a 2 CD set of the Battlestar Galactica solo piano arrangements — based off the Battlestar Galactica Solo Piano Songbook — is now available. The 2 CD set features 21 musical compositions based from the songbook, all performed by Joohyun Park on piano and arranged by Bear McCreary. It's never too young to fly a Raptor! In a tangible example of just how cool some geeks are, someone went to the trouble of creating a Raptor pilot suit for a small child. For Halloween no less.
