The Battlestar SitRep is a summary of the various articles that have been published in the last few weeks regarding Battlestar Galactica, its cast and crew, and whatever else is floating out there amongst the heavens. 

Firstly, we’d like to apologize for the hiatus for the past few weeks, but my real life and work have simply hindered my ability to really work on Galactica Geek as I had intended. Have no fear though, things are getting back into order (as much as these things can be, anyway) and so you’ll be seeing a slew of articles next week that we’ve been holding back. • The Olympian: Science fiction brings up religious conflicts — an article discussing how androids and humanoid-looking robots (like Cylons) bring up challenges to religious beliefs
• Another article at The News Tribune discusses BSG and the “parallel paths of religion and science fiction“.
• The original Battlestar Galactica missile firing toys were named #3 in a list of “Dangerous Recalled Toys” by WTAE.com.
• io9 has a new article on why Ronald D. Moore is still loved, despite the controversial Battlestar Galactica finale that you either love or you hate.

The New BSG Movie from Bryan Singer

• Screenwriter John Orloff, who is tapped to write the screenplay for the new Battlestar Galactica film from Bryan Singer (and original, credited creator Glen Larson), discussed the film Anonymous (which he wrote) and how the new BSG film will respect both the original and Moore’s versions of the saga.

Cast and Crew Happenings

• Jamie Bamber (Lee Adama) was on a recent episode of FOX’s House, entitled “The Confession,” playing a small town hero in need of a new liver. A review of the episode can be found here.
• Edward James Olmos (Bill Adama) spoke to the Tanner Forum on Social Ethics at Salt Lake Community College’s Grand Theater as part of his “We’re All in the Same Gang” presentation. A brief interview with Olmos can be found here.
• Tricia Helfer puts up her L.A. home for sale. Asking price is $2.135 million US Dollars. Photos can be found here.
• Ron D. Moore and “Mrs. Ron” have also placed their 5 bedroom home for sale in Northeast Altadena. Asking price is $2.5 million.
• According to Deadline, Helfer will also be working on TNT’s new series pilot, Scent of the Missing, with genre actress Summer Glau (Firefly, The Sarah Connor Chronicles).
• A preview of Helfer’s new horror movie, Bloodwork, has been made available online.
• Katee Sackhoff (Kara “Starbuck” Thrace) has been offered the role of “Dahl,” a Nordic mercenary tracking Riddick (Vin Diesel) in the third Riddick film from Universal Pictures.
• Jane Espenson talks about the rise of LGBT characters in her works, and the rising prominence of such characters in film and television, to SheWired.com.
• Caprica actor James Marsters talks about his work on various sci-fi and fantasy shows, and his reaction to plans for a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer film sans Joss Whedon.
