Last week feature on the eBay DRADIS were the collectible drinking glasses from 1979, which sold just this evening for $36.00 USD (not including shipping and handling).
This week, the focus shifts to something a bit more unique, and for those who want a display piece that is unique and reasonably affordable.
In scouring newly launched eBay auctions, I came across a Viper Mark VII Diorama created from the officially-licensed Mark VII Viper that Moebius made a model kit for. What’s unique about this listing is that, not only is the Mark VII Viper assembled and finished, but the fact that the modeler in question made a diorama with it as the center piece.
Let’s talk about the Mk. VII, because the modeler managed to modify it with 8,000MCD (an MCD being 1/1000 candle power) LCDs in the cockpit, the engines, and even the hangar bay light on the diorama’s wall. The power source for the lights… not tylium, but a single 9-volt battery.
Of course, lighting up something doesn’t make it cool by itself. If the Devil’s in the details, then this diorama and model have them. Included in the diorama are a pilot (with a swappable head: choose between a helmet or helmet-less head), knuckledraggers (and a lemonhead/signaler), a marine, and enough hangar bay items to make your head spin.
The diorama is intricately detailed with Hangar Bay signage, a small in-universe pin-up poster, a large rolling storage cart, and more.
The opening bid is $50.00 (not including shipping and handling) and the auction ends on October 2, 2011 at 7 PM PDT. It’s worth keeping an eye on, and it’ll certainly be a more economical solution for those who’ve lusted after the QMx Artistan Viper Mark II replica.
